Former X Factor singer Tom Mann has paid tribute to his fiancée after sharing the news of her tragic death on the morning of their wedding.

Mann appeared in the eleventh series of The X Factor in 2014, finishing fifth as part of boyband Stereo Kicks, a band formed on the show, before working as a songwriter for artists such as Lewis CapaldiRita Ora and Tom Grennan.

He and his fiancée Danielle Hampson, mother of eight-month-old son Bowie, were due to wed on Saturday.

Writing on Instagram, Mann said: “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but my darling Dani – my best friend, my everything and more, the love of my life – passed away in the wee hours of Saturday morning June 18.

“What was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives ended in irreversible heartbreak. I feel like I cried an ocean. know you know you were my whole world and the best thing that ever happened to me, Danielle, I will wear this ring that I was always supposed to wear as a sign of my unconditional love for you.

“I’m completely broken trying to process this and honestly I don’t know where to go from here but I know I have to use all the strength I can muster for our baby boy. I won’t be a mark about the parent you’ve already become but I promise I’ll do anything to raise Bowie the way we always wanted. I promise he’ll know how amazing his mom was. I promise to make you so proud.”

Mann went on to describe his fiancée, who worked as a PR manager, as “the most beautiful person inside and out” and “the most amazing soul.”

He continued, “We have lost such a special person and I’m sure we are about to see an overwhelming outpouring of love that reflects that. I will try to find peace in your posts and comments, but in this moment I am in mourning and I will be for a very, very long time.

“My darling Dani, the brightest light in all rooms, my world is darkness without you. I will miss you forever.”

Mann did not say how Ms Hampson died.

Stars like Emma Bunton, Nadine Coyle and Capaldi were among those who paid tribute and sent their love to Mann after his post.

“Heartbroken for you,” Bunton wrote. “A beautiful soul who will live on. Thinking of you all.”
