White House Deputy Senior Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from President Biden’s trip to Europe.
A statement from Jean-Pierre released Sunday evening by the White House indicates that she is not considered a close contact of President Biden.
“I last saw the President in a social distancing meeting yesterday, and the President is not considered a close contact as defined by CDC guidelines. Today I share the news of my positive test by abundance of transparency”, declared Jean-Pierre. .

Jean-Pierre is vaccinated and received his booster shot, according to the statement, and has only “mild symptoms”.
“Thanks to being fully vaccinated and boosted, I only experienced mild symptoms. In accordance with White House COVID-19 protocols, I will be working from home and plan to return to work in person at the end of a five-day isolation period and a negative test,” Jean-Pierre said.
