White House Deputy Senior Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from President Biden’s trip to Europe.

A statement from Jean-Pierre released Sunday evening by the White House indicates that she is not considered a close contact of President Biden.

“I last saw the President in a social distancing meeting yesterday, and the President is not considered a close contact as defined by CDC guidelines. Today I share the news of my positive test by abundance of transparency”, declared Jean-Pierre. .

Jean-Pierre is vaccinated and received his booster shot, according to the statement, and has only “mild symptoms”.
