Recalling those times, Anushka told ETimes in a 2012 interview, “Kargil was a badass. I was too young at that time but I was afraid to see my mother. She always had the news channel on throughout the day and got angry when casualties were announced. When my dad called he couldn’t say much but I kept talking about my school, my boyfriends and everything else not realizing he was at war.
Elaborating further, the actress added that she is extremely close to her father and can talk to him about what she can’t talk to anyone else. She also said, “I’m proud to say that I’m an army officer’s daughter even more so than being an actress.”
Anushka who is happily married to cricketer Virat Kohli is the mother of their daughter named Vamika. After a long hiatus of around four years, the actress is ready to return to the big screen with her next film, ‘Chakda Xpress’. Anushka will play the role of Jhulan Goswami in the film. The film which charts the journey of Jhulan’s rise as one of the best bowlers in the world is set to release on an OTT platform.
