Russia said its army destroyed a large unit in Ukraine.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday that domestic fighter jets hit the station in the eastern Pokrovsk region when an assault brigade that would reinforce Ukrainian troops in the region landed there.

He also claimed that Russian forces had destroyed the Ukrainian electronic intelligence center in Dniprovske, although this could not be independently confirmed.

Konashenkov said the Russian Air Force hit 28 troop and weapon concentrations and two ammunition depots in the past 24 hours.

“The VDV was employed in missions better suited to heavier armored infantry and suffered heavy casualties during the campaign. Its mixed performance likely reflects poor strategic management of this capability and Russia’s failure to ensure the air superiority,” he said.

So far, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has recorded 8,628 civilian casualties in Ukraine.
