Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, in which your body fails to use the insulin in your body. Insulin is a hormone that regulates the movement of sugar into your cells and controls blood sugar levels in the body. That said, with type 2 diabetes, the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or it is insulin resistant. Either way, it spikes blood sugar to dangerous levels, leading to various symptoms and complications.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 95% of people with diabetes suffer from type 2 diabetes, mainly due to excess weight and physical inactivity.
So far, there is no cure for type 2 diabetes. However, early diagnosis and some lifestyle changes can definitely make a big difference. Losing weight, eating healthy, and exercising regularly can work wonders when it comes to managing the disease.
