President Donald Trump announced Monday night that he would support Ken Paxton in the Texas attorney general race against George P. Bush, the son of former presidential candidate and Florida governor Jeb Bush.

Trump said Paxton, who is currently the state AG, has fought for the Americans against the “radical left” and the “unsuspecting RINOs (Republicans in name only)” who “are destroying” the country. He also cited Paxton’s approach to crime, border security, electoral integrity and the Second Amendment as reasons for his approval decision.

“It’s going to take a PATRIOT like Ken Paxton to push America First policies forward to make America even better,” Trump said. “Ken has my full and complete approval for another term as Attorney General of Texas. He is a true Texan who will keep Texas safe and never let you down!”

Paxton said he was honored to receive the approval.
