Former President Trump slammed GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell for calling him a “silly son of a bitch,” in decidedly offbeat remarks at a large gathering of Republican National Committee donors on Saturday night.
The event took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, where the country’s 45th president gave a keynote address that often strayed from an early publication of his speech.
“If it was Schumer instead of that silly son of a bitch, Mitch McConnell, they would never allow this to happen,” Trump said of the certification of the 2020 U.S. Capitol election results Jan. 6, according to at the Washington Post.
“If it was Schumer instead of that stupid son of a bitch, Mitch McConnell, they would never allow this to happen.”
“They would have fought it,” Trump said, also referring to the election as “bulls —” at one point.
Trump promised in the speech that he would help Republicans win back a majority in Congress in 2022.
“I stand before you tonight with the certainty that in 2022 we will take back the House and we will take back the Senate,” he said in his prepared remarks, according to Reuters.

Trump did not say if he plans to run for president again, but assured donors “in 2024 a Republican candidate will win the White House.”
He said any potential announcement of his own candidacy would likely come after the mid-term of 2022, according to Reuters.
‘Disappointed’ in Pence
Trump reportedly deviated from his prepared remarks several times during the roughly 50-minute speech, including when he spoke of McConnell.
The former president also said he was “disappointed” that former Vice President Mike Pence did not fight the certification of the January election.
“I wish Mike Pence had the courage to send him back to legislatures,” Trump lamented of the 2020 Electoral College results, according to the Post. “I love him so much. I was so disappointed.”

Neither Pence nor McConnell were apparently present.

Trump also reportedly repeated claims about the rigging of the November election, which state courts have rejected.
Condemning the situation at the border, Trump said, “They are from the Middle East. They are not sending their best members. You have murderers, you have rapists, you have drug traffickers.”
Fauci “ full of shit ”
Trump has also sued Elaine Chao, his former secretary of transportation and the wife of McConnell, who resigned after the riot on the U.S. Capitol on January 6. He claimed that after hiring Chao, she never said “thank you”.

He touted his response to the coronavirus pandemic last year and mocked White House chief medical adviser Dr Anthony Fauci for initially advising against masks at the start of the pandemic and he joked that Fauci now wants Americans to wear “five” masks.
“Have you ever seen someone who is so full of bullshit?” he asked Fauci, according to the Post.
Trump even said that someone recently suggested that the vaccine should be called “Trumpcine” because of Operation Warp Speed, which helped accelerate vaccine development last year.

He praised governments. Kristi Noem of South Dakota and Ron DeSantis of Florida for reopening their economies as other states remained closed during the pandemic.
Aside from Saturday night’s Mar-a-Lago party, the majority of GOP’s three-day retreat events this weekend took place at the Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach, Politico reported.
