Video The cause of death of vixen Tawny Kitaen has been revealed.

Kitaen, known for her roles in several ’80s music videos, died on May 7. A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in California confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday that the star’s cause of death was dilated cardiomyopathy. The mode of death was considered natural.

According to the spokesperson, other important conditions included: mild coronary atherosclerosis; mirtazapine, metabolite of mirtazapine, alprazolam, acetaminophen, pregabalin and hydrocodone.

Kitaen was 59 when she died at her home in Newport Beach, California. Her daughters, Wynter and Raine, first confirmed their mother’s death in May on Kitaen’s Instagram account.

“We just want to thank you all for all of you, her fans and friends, for always showing her such support and love. You gave her life every day,” their statement said.

Kitaen was best known as the sultry red-haired actress who appeared in rock music videos at the height of MTV. She became the “video vixen” of the rock world after appearing on the covers of two albums by heavy metal band Ratt and appearing in several music videos for Whitesnake, including the 1987 hit song “Here I Go Again”. The video, which aired several times on the Burgeoning Music TV Network, showed Tawny cartwheels on the hood of a Jaguar.

She also played the role of the fiancee of the character of Tom Hanks in the 1984 comedy “Bachelor Party” and as Jerry Seinfeld’s girlfriend in an episode of “Seinfeld” in 1991.

Other TV credits included a stint as co-host of “America’s Funniest People” and she appeared on the reality shows “The Surreal Life” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew”, in which she revealed her fight against drug addiction.

Just weeks after Kitaen’s death, his younger brother Jordan Kitaen spoke to Fox News about their close connection and referred to one of their last talks before his death. He explained that the actress, known to him by her birth name Julie, was in shock over the loss of their father, who died in April.

Jordan told Fox News how he encouraged Tawny to come closer to his faith before his death.

“For me, my faith is at the heart of who I am. I always thought that was what always got me through tough times. I always thought it would be a great help in life. of Julie to have a stronger spiritual connection, ”Jordan said at the time.

The star has had a tumultuous personal life. She married Whitesnake singer David Coverdale in 1989, but the couple divorced two years later. She then married MLB pitcher Chuck Finley in 1997, with whom she had two daughters. The marriage was difficult and it ended in 2002.

According to Variety, she has had several run-ins with the law, including a charge of possession of cocaine in 2006 and impaired driving in 2009.

Jordan admitted that Tawny had sought to recoup in the past for his struggles. Before her death, he recalled encouraging her to define her “higher power,” a term used in Alcoholics Anonymous.

“I told Julie she couldn’t do it on her own, neither of us can,” Jordan recalls. “She was recovering before, so she knew the concept of higher power. I told her, ‘Higher power is great, but give it some substance. You can have an intimate relationship with him if you want to or you can reject him and embrace the world and all of its disappointments. ‘”

Jordan said the conversation was well received by his sister and he felt she was “really growing in this area.”

Tawny’s relatives held a small celebration of her life in late May with speeches from her two daughters, as well as a musical performance of “Let It Be” by Jordan’s 15-year-old son. On the back of the program for Tawny’s service was a painting that she had painted herself. Jordan said his sister has many talents. In addition to her iconic dance, she was a “competent performer,” he said.
