Taliban operatives were mocked by social media users in a video that appeared to show them using a weight room in the presidential palace after their capture Kabul.
“The Taliban fighters apparently found the gymnasium in the presidential palace. None of them seem to know how to use anything in there,” BBC reporter Kian Sharifi tweeted of the video, which is went viral with over 8 million views.

The Taliban stormed Afghanistan and took control of all major cities within days, including Kabul on Sunday, where the presidential palace is located. Ousted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country over the weekend, a source telling Fox News that “there would have been fighting in the streets [if Ghani had stayed].“
President Biden addressed to the nation Monday about the takeover of the country by the Taliban, saying that he “strongly” supported his decision to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan.
“US troops cannot and should not fight in a war and die in a war that Afghan forces are unwilling to fight for themselves,” Biden said.
“We have given them every chance to determine their own future,” he said. “What we couldn’t provide them was the will to fight for that future.”
