PATIALA: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday laid the foundation stone for two new projects at NIS Patiala on the occasion of the 61st Foundation Day of the country’s first sports institute.
It was part of the overhaul of the Netaji Subhas National Sports Institute, with the government set to invest more than Rs 150 crore in top sports facilities in three years.
The first project is the creation of a National Center for Sports Training, comprising a high-tech sports science laboratory and a weight and conditioning room for the education of graduates.
The second project is the construction of a fully air-conditioned centralized kitchen and a food court with a seating capacity of 400 people and a modular kitchen with a capacity to prepare 2,000 meals.
The third project is to increase the hostel’s capacity by 450 with the construction of two new hostels on campus.
