BENGALERU: Chandrakant Pandit was hailed on Sunday as “Sir Alex Ferguson of Ranji Trophyas praise poured in for the coach after guiding Madhya Pradesh to their maiden title.
After losing the trophy as captain of Madhya Pradesh in 1998-99, Pandit enjoyed sweet redemption when his wards emerged victorious from 41-time champions Mumbai at Chinnaswami Stadium.

It was Pandit’s sixth Ranji coaching title, having won three with his home state Mumbai and two with Vidarbha.
Veteran wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik, who has reinvented himself as a finisher in India’s current clean-ball setup, has praised Pandit, comparing him to iconic Manchester United manager Ferguson , who won 13 Premier League championships with the Red Devils.

Indian ace Ravichandran Ashwin hailed Pandit’s success and wrote, “Chandrakant Pandit. That’s the tweet.”

The Ranji Trophy was held in two phases on each side of the IPL and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah acknowledged the tremendous effort it took for MP to win the title.
“Congratulations Madhya Pradesh for winning the #RanjiTrophy2022! We have witnessed tremendous performances throughout the season. Great efforts from everyone @BCCI to ensure another successful Ranji season amid the pandemic” , Shah wrote.

Deputy Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also praised the performance of the party.
“We are the champions,” read Chouhan’s congratulatory note.
