Shah: Shah reviews security situation at J&K and calls for proactive operations against terrorists | India News



JAMMU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed proactive operations against terrorists and suppressing their systems logistical and financial support.
Shah said the security grid should be further strengthened to ensure no cross-border infiltration and to completely eliminate terrorism to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah, who is on a two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir, reviewed the security situation here with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior officers from the central government and administration of Jammu and Kashmir, said an official spokesperson.
He appreciated the improvement in the security situation, the reduction in terrorist incidents from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021 and the decrease in the number of members of the security forces killed from 91 in 2018 to 42 in 2021.
Shah emphasized proactive operations against terrorists and denied them refuge or financial support.
He ordered security forces and police to provide real-time coordination for effective counterterrorism operations and monitor terrorist activities from prisons.
The minister has ordered further strengthening of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Jammu and Kashmir to combat narco-terrorism, the spokesperson said.
