SURAT: Defending champions Railways picked up a comfortable 35-point victory over Odisha in the second semi-final to set up a top-flight clash with Maharashtra in the Senior Women’s T20 trophy on Monday.
Battling first, the Railways posted 159 for two, straddling the 50-something twins of S Meghana (84) and Nuzhat Parween (55).
While Meghana had nine boundaries and a six in her 63-ball innings, Parween hit the ball through the fence four times on her undefeated shot that hit 51 balls.
In response, Odisha could manage 124 for seven in their stipulated 20 overs with fly-half Madhuri Meheta leading with a 25-ball 35.
Defending the aggregate, Swagatika Rath (2/23) and Tanuja P Kanwer (2/25) broke two wickets each, while Poonam Yadav (1/20) and Sneh Rana (1/14) took one each.
Earlier in the day, Yastika Bhatia scored a sublime 71 from 45 balls but it wasn’t enough as Maharashtra edged Baroda by six wickets to enter the final.
Smriti Mandhana-led Maharashtra limited Baroda to 121 for seven after opting to play at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium.
Utkarsha Pawar played with the ball for Maharashtra winning three wickets for 21 runs in four overs.
India and Baroda batsman Yastika hit 10 fours and a six in her counterattack shot but her efforts were in vain as Maharashtra coasted to win in 19.1 overs.
Maharashtra flyhalf Shivali Shinde completed 44 out of 37 and Tejal Hasanbis scored 33 out of 32 to ensure her side were comfortably chasing the target.
Skipper Mandhana scored a run a ball 13.
