Additionally, Schumer said he thinks there should be “some sort of code of ethics for Supreme Court justices.”

Schumer is one of several Democrats who recently called on Thomas to recuse himself after reports of messages between Meadows and Virginia “Ginni” Thomas.

On Monday, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, called on Thomas to recuse himself from matters related to Jan. 6, noting that the connection between Thomas’ wife and Meadows “really creates an obvious conflict “.

Wyden said Thomas should “recuse himself from any matter related to the January 6 investigation, and if Donald Trump runs again, any matter related to the 2024 election.”

The comments by the Democratic senators follow information on text messages, copies of which were obtained by The Washington Post and SCS, sent between Ginni Thomas and Meadows. Before ending its cooperation with the investigation, these text messages, part of a larger number of documents, were turned over by Meadows to the House Select Committee investigating the events at the Capitol on January 6. 2021.

In a message, the Post reported that Ginni, who has been married to Judge Thomas for more than 30 years, told Meadows to “unleash the Kraken and save us from the left that is bringing America down.”
