Russian plane missing: 28 people suspected on board

MOSCOW – Local officials said a plane with 28 people on board disappeared in the Russian far eastern region of Kamchatka on Tuesday.

Rescue officials said the An-26 plane with 22 passengers and 6 crew members missed a scheduled communication as it flew from the town of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to the village of Palana.

According to the local transport ministry, it has also disappeared from radar. An investigation has been opened and a research mission is in progress. Two helicopters and a plane were deployed to inspect the route of the missing plane, local officials said.
