EXCLUSIVE: Republican businessman and self-proclaimed “political outsider” Guy Nohra launched a candidacy for governor of Nevada on Tuesday, joining an increasingly crowded group of GOP candidates who are running to challenge Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak in elections next year.
“Governor Sisolak has let the Nevadans down. At every moment he has imitated and implemented California’s failed policies. His lack of leadership and innovation is hurting Nevada’s economy, our businesses, our people. students and our families, ”Nohra said in a statement shared first with Fox News.
And he vowed that “as the next governor, I will fight alongside you to take our state back from the left-wing politicians in Carson City. And together we will turn Nevada back.”

Nohra – who is described by his campaign as a “visionary entrepreneur” who co-founded a life sciences venture capital firm that has invested in 180 innovative biotechnology and medical technology companies “responsible for critical medical breakthroughs , saving lives and creating thousands of jobs in the United States ”- pointed out that he is making an initial seven-figure investment in his candidacy for governor.
Originally from Lebanon, Nohra fought as a teenager in the country’s bloody civil war “to defend his family, his community and his Christian faith.” His parents sent him to live with his family in America to finish high school.
The narrator in a video launching his campaign pointed out that Nohra “thrived in the classroom, played on his high school football team, captained the track team and even joined a rock band called Merging Traffic” .
“I played guitar. We were actually pretty good. I played a lot of great stuff from the ’70s that I still play today,” Nohra said in the video.

Nohra graduated from Stanford and obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago before entering the business world.
“I am not going to run my campaign like the others. Instead, I will speak to you directly, with all honesty and frankness,” Nohra promised. “I’m going to share with you my ideas for turning Nevada’s economy back on, we’re going to deal with this post-COVID hangover, teaching our kids how great America is, while keeping race theory critical, by making state government more efficient, by eliminating onerous regulations, by ensuring that our state income tax remains at zero. “
Nohra joins a GOP estate that already includes Democratic-turned-Republican Mayor John Lee of North Las Vegas, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, and attorney Joey Gilbert. Former Senator Dean Heller is likely to declare his candidacy next month, and Rep. Mark Amodei (NV-02) is also considering a candidacy for GOP governor.
