Premier League football player suspended for alleged child sex offenses



The player, who has not been named for legal reasons, was arrested on Friday and released on bail by police.

CNN did not name the club to avoid identifying the player.

The club announced on Monday the player’s suspension, pending a police investigation.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said in a statement to CNN on Tuesday: “GMP officers arrested a 31-year-old man from the Bowdon district of Trafford on Friday July 16, 2021 on suspicion of child sex offenses. He is on bail by police pending further investigations. “

The football club are gearing up for the new Premier League season, which starts next month.
