Prior to the loss, James was 14-0 in the first round of the playoffs for the Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
The Suns, led by star players Devin Booker and Chris Paul, took an early lead and controlled the game the entire time, leading 36-14 after the first quarter and 62-41 at halftime. A Lakers rally in the fourth quarter reduced the score to less than 10, but he was eventually choked by Phoenix.
For this game, James had a climb he had never faced in his career. It was the first time his team had lost in a first-round series going into Game 6.
It was also the first time in James’ career that his team had lost consecutive games in the first round. The Lakers previously led 2-1 in the series before losing the next three games.
The Suns, appearing in the playoffs for the first time since 2010, advance to the second round to face the Denver Nuggets in a best-of-seven clash.
