The husband of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, was arrested for drunk driving after his Porsche crashed on Saturday night.
The California Highway Patrol said Paul Pelosi, 82, was arrested in Napa County, north of San Francisco, after two vehicles collided shortly before midnight.
He was taken to jail and charged with two misdemeanors with bail set at $5,000, but police records show he was no longer in custody as of Sunday.
Highway Patrol said Mr. Pelosi was trying to cross State Route-29 in his 2021 Porsche when his car was hit by a 48-year-old man in a Jeep.
No one was injured and the other driver was not arrested.
State law prohibits drivers from driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08%.
Ms Pelosi was in Rhode Island at the time to deliver a speech to students at Brown University
Her spokesperson said: ‘The speaker will not comment on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast.
