Minogue said Charlene’s return is a “wink and I’ll miss you” moment, but the news spread quickly and took “a life of its own”.

Speaking about her time on the soap, she said: “I started acting a few years ago but my kind of big break and I guess became a household name was thanks to Neighbors in 1986, so many years ago. of moons.”

“Of course it’s sad and tears flowed, but we’re also extremely proud. Thirty-seven years is an incredible achievement and it should be celebrated.

“We have also been incredibly touched by the response from our viewers around the world. Neighbors is more than a TV show for many people. They see us as part of the family and we feel privileged to have been guests into their homes, and I know Neighbors’ legacy will live on for many years to come.”

Minogue is one of many stars who rose to fame on the show, with fellow former Guy Pearce (Memento, LA Confidential, Iron Man 3) also returning for the finale.
