Jennifer Lopez set to produce and star in Broadway TV production

JLo has reportedly partnered with the Oracle scion and Hollywood producer David Ellison’s production company, Skydance, to develop music projects for television and film.

The musicals will be based on the Concord Theatricals library, which includes the Rodgers & Hammerstein catalog. Famous Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals include “Carousel”, “South Pacific”, “The King & I”, “The Sound of Music”, “Cinderella” and “Oklahoma!” among others.

Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions will develop the projects with Skydance, and Lopez will star in at least one of the projects, Variety reported.

Lopez, 51, said in a statement: “Musicals were part of my childhood tapestry. We are delighted to begin our association with Skydance and Concord by reinterpreting some of the most classic musicals and bringing them to life. new ways for a new generation. “

Skydance already had a deal with Concord and developed a TV version of “Oklahoma!” – from “The Blind Side” director John Lee Hancock and “This Is Us” writer Bekah Brunstetter – which would set in modern times.

Lopez’s production partners, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, will produce the musical projects. Ellison is the producer behind the upcoming films “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mission: Impossible 8” by Tom Cruise, as well as “Terminator: Dark Fate”.

Meanwhile, Page Six recently reported that Lopez and Ben Affleck, 48, were spending time together in the Hamptons on the July 4th weekend. The couple have not commented publicly on the relationship, but Lopez said in a recent interview, “I’ve never looked so good.” She also recently “liked” a photo of Affleck on a Bennifer’s fan account on the set of her 2010 heist movie “The Town”.

We just hope she chooses Affleck to star opposite her in one of these music projects. It could be their first musical collaboration since he appeared in his “Jenny From the Block” video.
