JD(U) takes on ‘Y’ category security at Bihar BJP leaders, says securing future of youth is more important | India News

PATNA: Bihar’s ruling JD(U) struck Sunday at Grade ‘Y’ Security at 10 BJP leaders in the state, saying, “Securing the future of the youth is more important than providing security cover for the BJP leaders.”
JD(U) and MLC spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said youths and students protesting against the Agnipath regime, are the future of this country.
“‘Y’ grade security blanket has been provided to some of the BJP leaders but securing the future of the youth is more important,” he said in reaction to the MHA decision.
The JD(U) leader further said necessary steps should be taken to allay apprehensions about the Agnipath program in the minds of the young people who protested. He said the authorities should talk to the young protesters.
Neeraj also said that a positive initiative should be taken to safeguard the future of the youth. “It’s the responsibility of all parties,” he said.
The MHA on Saturday decided to provide ‘Y’ category security to 10 BJP leaders, after saffron party leaders were targeted and their homes raided by agitators protesting against the ‘Agnipath’ program of the Center for short-term recruitment into the armed forces.
The Centre’s move took place after Bihar BJP President Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal blamed the state police for remaining silent even when the properties of BJP leaders were vandalized by protesters and the party office ransacked in Madhepura.
Those who received ‘Y’ category security include Jaiswal, CM MP Renu Devi, CM MP Tarkishore Prasad, Digha MLA Sanjiv Chaurasia, Bisfi MLA Haribhushan Thakur, Araria MP Pradeep Singh, Darbhanga MP Gopal Ji Thakur, Katihar MLC Ashok Agrawal, Kishanganj MLC Dr Dilip Kumar Jaiswal and MLA Sanjay Sarawagi from Darbhanga City.
