IPL 2022: Our true potential is out, says Rohit Sharma after Mumbai Indians’ first win of the season | Cricket News

NAVI MUMBAI: Rohit Sharma would take a Mumbai Indians (MI) win any day as a birthday present and more when the team finally reached their potential after eight straight defeats.
MI recorded their first win of the season beating Rajasthan Royals by five wickets as they put on their best show of the current edition on a Saturday night.
“I would definitely take it,” Rohit said when asked if he ever thought it might be his birthday present.

“That’s how we play, real potential came out today, with the ball in particular. They kept applying the pressure. If you keep taking wickets it’s going to be tough for them, we’re going to get it. ‘did perfectly today,’ said Rohit, praising his bowling unit.
He didn’t think the team combination was the reason for this season’s debacle so far.
“It’s the team we faced in the first two games, except for a few changes in bowling. When you have a season like this, you are not sure of your combination. You want to try so many things.”

Rohit admitted that the conditions at Navi Mumbai are a bit different.
“The conditions are different. The ball tends to get stuck here, the pitches are flat at the other venues. We are trying to field the best combination, it hasn’t worked for eight games.”
It was a season of near misses, believes the MI skipper.
“But one thing I can say is that we weren’t blown away by the opposition, we came very close. If we had won those games things would have been slightly different,” Rohit said.
