India reports 21,411 Covid-19 cases and 67 deaths in past 24 hours | India News



NEW DELHI: India reported 21,411 new coronavirus infections and 67 Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry on Saturday morning.
This takes the total count of the country from Covid-19 infections since the start of the pandemic at 4,38,68,476.

With an increase of 618 cases from the previous day, the number of active cases in India rose from 1,49,482 to 1,50,100, according to the Union Health Ministry.
Active cases represent 0.34% of total infections.

The 67 new deaths include 32 from Kerala, seven from West Bengal, six from Maharashtra, three from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, two from Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya and one from Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa , Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Pondicherry, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu.
Of the 5,25,997 deaths reported in the country so far, 1,48,051 were from Maharashtra, 70,366 from Kerala, 40,132 from Karnataka, 38,032 from Tamil Nadu, 26,298 from Delhi, 23,559 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,307 from West Bengal.

With 20,726 recoveries from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the national recovery rate stands at 98.46%, the health ministry said. The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,31,92,379.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.46% while the weekly positivity rate stands at 4.46%.
According to the Ministry of Health, 201.68 crore Covid vaccination doses have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide inoculation campaign.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the one crore mark in December 2020, two crores in May last year and three crores in June 2021. The four crore mark was crossed in January this year.
