In his upcoming book “Beautiful Things,” Hunter Biden takes a look at his struggles with addiction, including a dramatic intervention his family staged for him in March 2019.

President Biden’s son first revealed details of the episode – which occurred about a month before Elder Biden announced his presidential campaign – during an interview with “CBS This Morning” published Friday. But a copy of “Beautiful Things” obtained by Fox News includes more about the incident, including the preparation and what Hunter did afterward.

“One day out of the blue,” Hunter wrote, “my mom called.”

She said there would be a “family dinner at the house, that I should come, even stay in Delaware for a few days,” the book read. Hunter Biden, who was in a motel at the time, left for Wilmington, according to the book.

“I entered the house, bright and welcoming as always, and immediately saw my three daughters. I knew then that something was happening, ”he said. “Naomi had come from New York, where she was in law school at Columbia; Finnegan came from Philadelphia, where she was at Penn; and Maisy, then a high school student, had come from Kathleen’s house in Washington.”

“‘Not f —— this,'” Hunter replied.

“It was horrible … I was horrible,” he added.

The situation, Hunter wrote, was an “agonizing debacle” for some time before he told his father to never “” ambush me like that “” again and attempted to flee the house.

His daughters prevented him from getting into his car, Hunter wrote, and his father came out of the house to hug him and “cried for a very long time.”

Asked by CBS what was going through his mind at the time, Hunter said, “I thought, ‘I have to find a way to tell him that I’m going to do something so I can take another hit. . ‘”

“It’s the only thing I could think of. Literally,” he added. “It’s like that. I don’t know of a force more powerful than love for my family. Except addiction.”

Hunter, according to his book, agreed to be taken to a local drug rehab center by Hallie Biden, the widow of his brother Beau with whom he had a romantic relationship in the past. But after dropping him off at the rehab center, Hunter got an Uber at a hotel near the BWI airport. “I sat in my room and smoked the crack that I had hidden in my travel bag,” wrote.

“Then I got on a plane to California and ran and ran and ran.”
