HALLE WESTFALEN, GERMANY: world number one Daniel Medvedev lost his second consecutive ATP grass final when he was dismissed by Poland Hubert Hurkacz in Halle on Sunday.
Medvedev had few answers as he crashed to victory on 64 minutes as Hurkacz offered no respite in a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
It was a second heavy defeat in a row for the Russian who also lost in straight sets to Tim van Rijthoven last Sunday at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.
Hurkacz won the fifth title of her career, but her first on grass after also reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year.
En route to the final in Halle, the 25-year-old beat Australian brand Nick Kyrgios in straight sets before outclassing Medvedev.
A protester briefly delayed play on Sunday by sprinting onto the pitch before being escorted out of the stadium by security guards.
