On Sunday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘orange alert’ for the nation’s capital predicting light rain accompanied by squalls at the speed of 50-60 km/h on Monday under the influence of a disturbance from the west .

“Isolated hailstorm also likely over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab on 22-23; over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh on 23 May 2022. Isolated heavy rain also likely over Jammu and Kashmir and northern Punjab on May 23, 2022,” IMD tweeted on Sunday.
Some parts of Delhi received rain overnight with 0.8mm of rainfall recorded till 8.30am on Sunday in Safdarjung. Palam, Najafgarh and Lodhi Road recorded 2mm, 1mm and 0.9mm of rain respectively till 8.30am.
