Grammy-winning artist Naomi Judd dies at 76

Grammy-winning artist Naomi Judd of The Judds has died aged 76.

Judd’s daughters announced his death in a statement Saturday to The Associated Press.

“Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to mental illness,” the statement read. “We are devastated. We navigate deep grief and know that, as we loved her, she was loved by her audience. We are in uncharted territory.”

Naomi Judd was also the mother of Wynonna and Ashley Judd.

His death comes days before The Judds’ induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday.
