And members of the country club where Gene Siller was killed still don’t know why the murders took place, a friend of Siller’s said on Tuesday.
“It just doesn’t make sense,” Brian Katrek, member of the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw and host of SiriusXM PGA Tour radio, told CNN’s “New Day.”
“I think the reaction from the members right now is still one of pretty deep shock.”
Cobb County Police said they were called with a report of a person shot at around 2:20 p.m. Saturday and found Siller – the club’s golf director – shot in the head near the green at the course’s 10th hole.
A truck was on the green and police found the bodies of two other men in the bed of the truck – both of whom had also been shot, police said.
One of the men killed was Paul Pierson, the registered owner of the Ram 3500, police said. The name of the other man killed has not been released.
Police said they were trying to determine what had happened and had not released the name of a suspect.
Investigators told CNN they were asking residents to check their doorbell video for any clues.

PGA of America President Jim Richerson also released a statement: “We are truly heartbroken to learn of the senseless murder which took place yesterday at the Pine Tree Country Club in Georgia which claimed the life of the member of the PGA Gene Siller, “the statement read. “The PGA of America sends our thoughts, prayers and our deepest condolences to its family, club and the Georgia PGA community.”
Sebastian Schutte, a friend of Siller, said the community was in shock.
“It didn’t hit me until later that it happened at our country club,” he told CNN on Monday. “I still can’t believe it.”
He said Siller was highly regarded and “treated everyone with respect”.
Siller’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help with finances.
CNN’s Ralph Ellis, Alaa Elassar and Claudia Dominguez contributed to this report.
