According to Variety, the film focuses on three friends who are now in their 50s and attempt to recreate an interrail trip through Europe from their youth in order to make their friend’s last wish come true. Unable to join them, the friend is replaced during the trip by her 18-year-old daughter. The film promises that lost passports, train strikes, romantic entanglements and old feuds will hamper the group’s mission to complete the trip within five days of keeping their promise. The outlet reports that “Off the Rails” marks Jules Williamson’s directorial debut and that the story is based on their real-life experience.

Unfortunately, no release date is set for the film at this time. However, Screen Media purchased the US rights to the comedy-drama in November 2020 and announced its goal of releasing it in the first half of 2021. However, it appears that has not happened.

Representatives for Screen Media did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

She took to Instagram in April 2019, just over a year before her death, to share some behind-the-scenes photos from the film and to note how thrilled she was to work with Judi Dench.
