‘Doctor Strange’ actress Zara Phythian has reportedly been jailed for eight years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

Her husband, Victor Marke, was jailed for 14 years on similar charges, according to reports.

After his sentencing, Phythian’s family shouted, “We love you, Zara.” She replied, “I am innocent. I love you all.”

Judge Mark Watson stressed that he believed Marke was the “driving force” behind the abuse.

He told Phythian during his sentencing: “Although you denied in cross-examination that you were in love with Victor Marke, from the evidence I have heard I have no doubt that your deviance was shaped by the influence he had on you from a young age.”

“I can’t ignore that it started when you were still young.”

He continued: “Having said that, none of this excuses what you did – these were choices you made.”

“You had then succeeded on your own. You chose to play your part.”

Phythian and Marke were guilty Wednesday of having sex with a 13-year-old girl, the BBC reported. The UK’s Nottingham Crown Court convicted the pair on all 14 counts of sexual activity.

The couple had been accused of sexually abusing the girl from 2005 to 2008.

“I knew it was wrong, but I just didn’t know how to get out of the situation or say anything,” the victim told the court, according to the BBC.

“I just did whatever they asked me to do. They made me look like a naughty kid and they were helping me.”

The actress’ her husband Marke was also found guilty of four counts of indecent assault against another woman. The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred between 2002 and 2003.

According to the woman, Marke began sexually abusing her when she was 16, the Nottingham Post reported.

“I would like to thank the two victims who have shown great courage in coming forward and speaking out about their ordeal,” lead investigator Parminder Dhillon said, according to the Nottingham Post. “While no amount of court-ordered punishment can undo the damage done to them throughout their lives, I hope they take some comfort in the fact that justice has now been served.”

“I hope this case serves as a reminder to others – that we treat all allegations of sexual abuse with the utmost seriousness and that, even in cases where offenses occurred many years ago, we will investigate. thoroughly and we will do everything in our power to bring the culprits to justice.”
