NEW DELHI: The three military leaders briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday on the ongoing deployment of the Agnipath schemeeven though the defense establishment has once again emphasized this, it will not affect combat readiness and will not result in any change in the overall recruitment process and the Army regimental system.
General Manoj Pande, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Admiral R Hari Kumar in separate meetings briefed the Prime Minister
on the recruitment schedule and the measures taken to successfully implement the program under which 46,000 Mohawk will begin training in November-December.
With young people taking to the streets in at least eight states to protest the short-term recruitment of all
new soldiers, airmen and sailors without pensions or benefits for former servicemen, the government announced a
series of measures so that 75% of Agniveers are demobilized from each batch after four years in office.
