The Canaries suffered a 7-0 beating at the hands of league leaders Chelsea on Saturday in one of the most one-sided games you can see in England’s top flight.

The defeat keeps Norwich winless deep in the Premier League, with just two points in nine games and a staggering minus 21 goal difference.

Across the board, Chelsea extended their lead over Liverpool in second place to four points, although Jurgen Klopp’s side play their game in hand against Manchester United on Sunday.

There were early signs that the afternoon was going to be a long one for Norwich and his supporters, as Mason Mount opened the scoring in 10 minutes.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James made it 3-0 at halftime, before Ben Chilwell and an own goal from Max Aarons took the lead to five just after the hour mark.

Things turned from bad to worse for Norwich, who then sent off Ben Gibson for a second yellow card with 25 minutes left.

Chelsea showed some signs of pity, however, and only scored two more goals, with Mount getting them both their first Premier League hat-trick.

“Before the game I put the pressure on myself to be on the scoresheet and then three came in in the same game,” Mount told BT Sport after the game. “This is obviously a huge moment for me. I will remember this one for a long time.”

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel added: “It was a good performance. We were lively and put in a lot of effort.

“Attacking players need goals to feel fully happy and… so that will help a lot. [Mount] waited a long time, too long so it was good that he scored goals. “
