British MP charged with viewing pornography in Commons chamber

An English MP has been accused of viewing pornography inside the House of Commons.

Neil Parish, MP for Tiverton and Honiton, has been accused of viewing adult material inside the Houses of Parliament. Two colleagues allegedly caught him watching the inappropriate material. Parish has identified himself as the suspect for an investigation but declines to comment on the validity of the allegations.

“Following recent allegations regarding an MP’s use of his mobile phone in Parliament, I have referred myself to the House of Commons Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards,” Parish said in a brief statement on the matter.

Along with declining to comment, Parish assured his constituents that he would not take a break from governance and would continue in office as usual.

‘I will co-operate fully with any investigation, and while it is ongoing I will continue to carry out my duties as MP for Tiverton and Honiton,’ he said. “I will make no further comments at this stage.”

His wife, Sue Parish, told The Times of London: “It was very embarrassing.”

“My breath was taken away, frankly,” she told the newspaper, adding that her husband is “a totally normal guy, really. He’s a lovely person.”
