Conservatives and veterans attacked President Biden for appearing to look at his watch during a memorial service for the 13 U.S. servicemen killed in an ISIS-K suicide bombing near Kabul airport in Afghanistan this week last.
Biden met with the families of soldiers killed in the attack, and he also witnessed the “dignified transfer” of fallen troops, a military ritual of receiving the remains of those killed in action overseas, while ‘he was at Dover Air Base.
During the event, Biden appeared to look down on his watch, drawing criticism from conservatives.
“That’s right. Joe Biden checked his watch during the dignified transfer of servicemen killed in Afghanistan to the airport. You can see him shaking his left hand to pull the watch out from under his sleeve and then look at it,” he said. “There is nothing more important than to pay tribute to the fallen American war heroes, Mr President”, Nile Gardner, former assistant to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at Heritage Foundation, wrote on Twitter.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
