Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich sent a scathing letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding that the Biden administration stop releasing COVID-19 migrants in the country.
“As the Biden administration intensifies pressure campaigns for COVID-related mandates, this revelation shows incredible hypocrisy and disregard for the health of ordinary Americans,” Brnovich said in the letter, obtained by Fox News. “If this is true, I call on your department to cease these actions immediately.”
Brnovich was responding to a report in which a customs and border patrol union official warned that the United States “is releasing people out of the gate day in and day out with real positive tests for COVID and more continue to emerge.” .
“This is an astonishing admission that has serious implications for communities and border states,” Brnovich said of the report.

In addition to demanding an end to the release of positive migrants, Brnovich demanded an “account of COVID-positive people who have been released by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in areas of the Arizona since President Joe Biden was sworn in. “
Chris Cabrera, vice chairman of the National Border Patrol Council who made the revelations referenced by Brnovich, also warned that the situation had caused several officers to fall ill with COVID-19.
“We have a lot of agents in quarantine right now which adds to our problem, in addition to the agents who are sick with COVID, so we are worried about catching it ourselves, we are concerned about our families and colleagues. and it just seems everyone’s eyes closed when we have a real situation here, ”Cabrera said last month.
In the letter, Brnovich argued that the current situation at the border has “compromised the safety and security of countless American communities.”
“Since the start of fiscal 2021, CBP has apprehended more than 1.1 million migrants at our southern border,” Brnovich said. “We also know that there are (at least) tens of thousands of (or ‘future’) migrants who escape detection and blend into our communities.”
“With these ‘leaks’ and the return of ‘captures and releases’ for the migrants we have apprehended, we have little or no mechanisms in place to enforce our immigration laws,” he said. -he adds.
