Americans oppose transgender surgeries and puberty blockers for minors: poll

The majority of Americans do not support transgender surgeries or puberty blockers for minors, according to a poll by a conservative nonprofit organization.

The survey asked respondents if they would support a ban on puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and physical sex reassignment surgeries for children under 18.

56% of those polled said they would support a ban, while 34% said they would not. Just over a third of those respondents identified as Democrats, while 37% identified as Republicans and just under a quarter identified as Independents, according to the American Principles Project Foundation survey. .

In another question, respondents were asked whether they supported or opposed children being pressured to change gender. About 63% of respondents agreed that the children were too young for the decision. Around 22% of respondents thought opposition to gender transition was transphobic.

The poll was conducted by OnMessage Inc. for American Principles Project (APP) in six Senate battleground states — Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada and New Hampshire — targeting likely general election voters by phone. The survey’s margin of error was +/- 2.82%.

Medical professionals tell Fox News they’ve seen rates of gender dysphoria soar among young people in recent years, but many of their colleagues are hesitant to speak out publicly against transgender ideology out of fear professional and personal retaliation.

Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, who is the most senior transgender person in the US government, made headlines last month for claiming during an interview with NPR that “there is no argument among healthcare professionals – pediatricians, pediatric endocrinologists, adolescent doctors, adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. – about the value and importance of gender-affirming care.”
