‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme’ star Jonathan Goodwin has shared that he is now paralyzed and needs a wheelchair following a failed stunt on the set of the popular competition show NBC in October 2021.
The 42-year-old Welsh daredevil shared some details of his recovery efforts with fans in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
“6 months ago I went to rehearse something and left this furry little monkey patiently waiting for me…he only saw his dad again a few weeks ago and when he finally saw him done, dad had some cool new wheels,” Goodwin wrote. .
“A lot has changed in the past 6 months, but love is a constant and I am very much loved. I can’t wait to see my next chapters and be a role model.”
Goodwin smiled as he sat in his wheelchair with his dog in his lap as thousands of supporters commented on his strength and positive spirit during this difficult time.

He also shared an Instagram Story a few hours later, thanking his nearly 50,000 followers for “all the love and sweet messages” after revealing his diagnosis.
“Thank you for all the love and lovely messages,” he wrote in the selfie. “To answer a few questions. I have a T11 spinal cord injury, which means I’m paralyzed from the waist down. It’s probably a permanent injury. If any of you want to run, I’m sure I can beat you. #Bring it on.”

Goodwin was rushed to hospital last year after the traumatic incident unfolded on stage as he tried to free himself from a straitjacket as two vehicles swung alongside him – while being hoisted 70 feet in the air by his feet.
He was supposed to break free and fall onto mattresses on the ground and miss the cars before the vehicles ran over him.
But the two cars collided and caught Goodwin in the middle, causing a huge ball of fire as Jonathan fell to the ground and hit his head.
A rep for the show told Fox News Digital at the time, “During a rehearsal last night for ‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme,’ an accident occurred in which escape artist Jonathan Goodwin was injured while performing his number.
They added: “He was responsive and was immediately taken to hospital where he continues to receive medical treatment. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as we await further updates on its state.”

Shortly after the incident, Goodwin appeared to be in relatively good spirits as he expressed his gratitude for the ‘outpouring of love’ and support during the difficult time in a photo shared on social media from his bed. ‘hospital.
“You can’t say you don’t get out what you put in. I’ve done my best over the years to be kind, caring, honest and kind,” he wrote.
“A few days ago my life turned completely left…and the outpouring of love from all corners of the world, from people who I didn’t even think would know me or remember me. … was just amazing. Truly amazing.”
He added: “I will have a lot to say about this and the benefits of being kind in the future…but thank you. Thank you to everyone who reached out and sent their love and support. It literally save the life .”
His fiancée, actress Amanda Abbington, told Jay Rayner on the ‘Out to Lunch’ podcast earlier this week that Goodwin also “lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, broke both legs “during the failed stunt.
