Ghislaine Maxwell has said she ‘feels bad’ for Prince Andrew and accepts they can’t be friends anymore, in her first interview from prison since being convicted of sex trafficking.
Speaking to CBS and Paramount Plus, the 60-year-old said she understands why the The Duke of YorkLawyers had to play down their friendship.
“I feel so bad for him,” The Sun reports, she told the interviewer. “I am what happens to him.”
Following a trial earlier this year, Maxwell has been convicted of luring young girls to massage parlors for disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein attack, between 1994 and 2004.
Speaking for the first time since prison, she said: “I accept that this friendship could not survive my sentence.
“He pays such a price for the association. I consider him a very dear friend. I care about him.”
The former socialite went on to claim the now infamous photo of her, Andrew and a young Virginia Giuffre (above) was not genuine
Prince Andrew settled a civil sexual assault complaint brought by Ms. Giuffre earlier this year. He has always denied any wrongdoing.
Speaking of billionaire pedophile EpsteinMaxwell described their relationship as the “biggest regret of my life” and said she would “avoid meeting him” if she could go back.
But she added that “many women can relate” to falling in love with someone they regret.
Maxwell, who was transferred to a low-security prison in Florida in July and is appeal his convictionspoke to the media twice, according to The Sun.
The first interview was conducted at the New York High Security Detention Center where she was held after her arrest, and the second in Florida.
She spoke of a plot to kill her while she was in jail in New York, according to the Daily Mail. “As you know, there was a woman who made a threat, said she had a plan to assassinate me while I was sleeping.
“But everyone here [in Florida] so far has been extremely professional and I have not experienced any of the gross violations of my rights that I have experienced at the MDC [New York].. I don’t feel in danger. And I’m perfectly capable of living and working here.”
The plot was first revealed in court documents last summer.
Prison documents confirmed that she was transferred to FCI Tallahassee this summer.
According to a prison counseling firm, inmates can do yoga, host talent shows and watch movies.
Relationship with Bill Clinton was ‘special’
Maxwell also opened up about her trial during the interview, saying he turned her into a “Disney Wicked Witch character.”
She also described her friendship with former US President Bill Clinton as “special”, adding that they had “a lot in common”.
Maxwell said that, as with Prince Andrew, she accepts that they can no longer be associated. But she said she felt “honoured” when former President Donald Trump wished her well ahead of her trial.
Describing how they “got mixed in the same circles”, she said her words were a “big push”.

Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison after her arrest in 2020.
Epstein was found dead in his cell at a Manhattan federal prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
