Britney Spears has announced that she has lost her “miracle baby” she was pregnant with.
The 40-year-old star took to Instagram on Saturday to share the devastating news.
“It is with our greatest sadness that we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” her joint statement with fiancé Sam Asghari said.

“This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce it until we were more advanced, but we were too excited to share the good news. .

Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue to try to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Spears announced her pregnancy via Instagram in April, sharing an image of a pink teacup and flowers with a lengthy caption.

“I lost so much weight to make my trip to Maui than to gain it back,” she began. “I thought ‘Damn…what happened to my stomach???’ My husband said “No, you’re stupid pregnant with food”, referring to Sam Asghari28.
“So I took a pregnancy test…and uhhhhh well…I’m having a baby.”

The star went on to say, “Obviously I won’t be dating as much because the paps are getting shot at like they unfortunately already have…it’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression…I I have to say, it’s absolutely awful.”
“Women didn’t talk about it back then… some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her… but now women talk about it every day… Thank God we don’t. ‘don’t have to keep this pain a secret right’.

Spears concluded, “This time I’m going to do yoga everyday!!! Spreading lots of joy and love.
Spears shares her two sons, Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears has mentioned in the past that she’s open to having more kids. In an Instagram post she shared in November, the pop star shared that she wanted to add a baby girl to her family.
“I’m thinking of having another baby!!!” she captioned the post. “I wonder if this one is a girl…she’s on her toes to achieve something…that’s for sure!!!!”

In June 2021, she mentioned that during her conservatorship she had an IUD in place and that her preservatives wouldn’t let her “go to the doctor and take it out.”
Spears’ conservatorship ended in November. Spears and Asghari met in 2016 on the set of her music video for the song “Slumber Party.”
