Describe your relationship with your mother?
My mom and I are truly best friends. In the sense that we are very comfortable expressing ourselves to each other. She is my confidante. My mentor. My biggest critic. Sometimes she’s also my partner in crime. And for the past few years, she had also felt like my baby, my child. I think after a certain age there’s a role reversal and I’m very, very protective of my mom and sometimes find myself mothering her.
What three important things did your mother teach you that helped you become a better person?
One is simply to be nice to people. Everyone fights their own battles, so be kind and don’t act out of any kind of ego. The second thing would be to handle everything with grace, be it a success or some kind of setback and not let any of those things affect you to any extreme. And number three is to keep working on myself as a person, to find time to be with me, and to find happiness in everyday moments. Basically for less stress and more fluid.
What does a perfect Mother’s Day look like?
Well, I don’t know the perfect word, but on Mother’s Day, I guess like any other day, my mom would want me to spend time with her. And luckily, I’m not filming that day. So we will be able to spend some time. But yes, my mother and I like simplicity. We are both homebodies and seek joy in the simplest things. So as long as we’re together, that’s what she’s happiest about.
Who is your favorite on-screen mother?
Well, I can’t answer that question without bias, but my mom is amazing, not just off screen but on screen as well.
Describe your mom in 3 words?
Graceful, adventurous and divine. And funny. She has a great sense of humor.
If you were to take your mom on a secret vacation, where would it be and why?
My mother is not easy to hunt. She will ask me too many questions about where what, etc. But if I did, it would surely be somewhere in the mountains. We both love the mountains, and we also love dogs. So I would like to take her somewhere in the mountains, in Himachal or Uttarakhand, somewhere where there is no network and where there are many, many dogs and where we can just walk outside and become one with nature.
