MUMBAI: Rajasthan Royals hitter Shimron Hetmyer on Saturday credited his team’s batting depth as the reason for a clinically successful 190 chase against the Punjab Kings in an IPL game on Saturday.
On a seemingly difficult pitch, the Rajasthan Royals descended on a flyer after Jos Buttler fired a quick 16-ball 30 before Yashasvi Jaiswal laid down a solid platform with his spectacular 41-ball 68 as they scripted a six-wicket win with two balls for spare.

“Chasing a big 190 really shows we have a lot of depth in our hitter. There’s a lot of confidence in every player. We make sure we keep believing we can do it,” the West Indies hitter said.
Jaiswal started in the 15th with just 49 needed from 35 balls as Hetmyer played as a finisher in his 31 from 16 balls.

“This year I’m really taking as long as I can. In the last two years I just haven’t given myself much of a chance. This time I just give myself at least 5-6 balls and then from there. So far it has worked,” the 25-year-old said after finishing the game for his team.
He also praised promising fly-half Jaiswal, 20, who laid a perfect base with his 68-41 ball run in his return game.

“His (Jaiswal) shot was brilliant. I’m really happy to see him do some runs, just go out there and express himself. It was one of the best shots I’ve seen in a while. was fun to watch at, I’m really, really happy for me,” he said.
It was the 20-year-old’s absolute dominance against the experienced Punjab attack that really stood out.
“Jaiswal is great to watch. He works really hard in the net, just to get a chance and express himself like he did, I’m really at a loss for words,” he said.
