Prince Albert of Monaco’s wife, Princess Charlene, underwent major surgery on Friday and will soon be joined by her family in South Africa.
“The operation went well, Princess Charlene is resting and we think of her with fondness,” said the 63-year-old man, quoted by People magazine.
A palace statement revealed that the operation required general anesthesia and lasted four hours. This is a series of ear, nose and throat surgeries that the 43-year-old has undergone in recent months to treat complications from a previous surgery performed last spring in Europe. , noted the media.
The princess has experienced ongoing health problems after a sinus lift and bone grafting in preparation for dental implants, which were done before she arrived in South Africa in May, became infected.

The royal told South Africa Radio 702 host Mandy Wiener that she plans to leave South Africa in late October after another medical procedure, adding that she “cannot force a cure”.

Palace sources told the media that Albert, along with their twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, should be reunited with the matriarch “in the coming days”. The family had already traveled to South Africa in early June.
Charlene recently told South Africa Radio 702 host Mandy Wiener that she was “in a game of waiting” to be with her family and that she is expected to leave the country by the end of October. The princess stressed that she “cannot force a cure” as previously quoted by People magazine.
“I cannot force the cure, so I will be locked up in South Africa until the end of October,” Charlene said, noting that she was due to have another medical procedure.
“I feel good, I feel good,” she added.
Still, Charlene admitted that being away from her husband and their 6-year-old twins made the ordeal more difficult.

“This is the longest time I have been away from Europe and my children,” she said. “Like I say, it’s just a waiting game. I can’t predict how my healing process will go. But yes, I’m very sad that I can’t be with my kids this summer in Europe.”
The princess said that during her stay in her homeland, she looked after the work of her foundation and was personally involved in rhino conservation. She also put down roots for her country at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
The split between Charlene and Albert sparked rumors of an impending separation.
According to the media outlet, Charlene traveled to her homeland in early May to participate in activities supporting her foundation in South Africa. At the end of June, Charlene announced that she was forced to miss her 10th birthday with Albert due to additional surgery.
In mid-July, Charlene told South African media Channel24 that she suffered from ear, nose and throat problems.

Yet European tabloids have insisted the couple’s separation goes far beyond health issues. Sources told Paris Match that Charlene had “no intention of returning” while Germany’s Bunte claimed Charlene was looking for a house near Johannesburg.
Rumors escalated when Albert attended the Tokyo Olympics solo despite the prince being a long-time member of the International Olympic Committee. Charlene is also a former Olympic swimmer.
In June, Charlene told People magazine in a statement that she was optimistic about the future.

“My daily conversations with Albert and my kids help me a lot to keep my spirits up, but I miss their presence a lot,” she said. “I can’t wait for us to be together.”
