the White House reneged on a statement regarding the possibility of applying new coronavirus blockades due to the spread of the Delta variant.

Fox News’s Peter Doocy on Thursday asked Deputy Senior White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during the daily briefing whether the administration would support future COVID-19 lockdowns.

Doocy asked, “So if you listen to science, if scientists come to you at some point and say that in our opinion there should be school closures and school closures, you would.”

Jean-Pierre responded to Doocy, saying the Biden administration had not ruled out future lockdowns and potential school closings.

“Well, we listen to it. Like I said, we listen to the CDC and the expert and their advice is, you know, the CDC is a body that is very well respected, and we follow again, we let’s follow their advice, ”Jean -Pierre replied.

Hours later, the White House retracted its statement on Twitter.

LA MAISON BLANCHE WILL NOT EXCLUDE FUTURE LOCKINGS OR SCHOOL CLOSURES IF THE CDC SAYS SO

A White House official reported to Fox News a pair of tweets from Jean-Pierre on Thursday night claiming the administration is not in fact considering a lockdown – although he said lockdowns remained on the table during from the daily briefing earlier in the day.

“To be clear, here’s what [President Biden] said this week: “More vaccinations and wearing masks in the areas most affected by the Delta variant will allow us to avoid the kind of blockages, closures, school closures and disruption we have faced in 2020 … We are not going back to that, ‘”wrote Jean-Pierre on Twitter.

“We will not return to containment. Why? Because we now have the tools to put this virus behind us,” she continued. “Science says vaccines work – including against the Delta variant. We urge Americans to get vaccinated.”

Jean-Pierre was also questioned by Fox News’ Peter Doocy during Thursday’s briefing on whether Americans should “trust” President Biden on his word that the nation “does not return to lockdowns, closures and closures of ‘schools’ after calling on Americans to wear masks indoors even if vaccinated.

“President Biden says we’re not going back to lockdowns, closures and school closures,” Fox News’s Peter Doocy asked, “But he also said once we didn’t have to wear masks anymore. once vaccinated. So why should Americans trust him now? “

“Well, because we listen to the scientists, we listen to the experts,” replied Jean-Pierre. “This is a public health situation. It is not at all about politics, it is about saving lives. And that is the president’s raison d’être.”

“He wants to make sure we save lives,” she continued. “If you look, Peter, the last six months, he’s been doing every day and you see it in the numbers.”
